Starting a small business is a great challenge. Whichever the niche, the market is oversaturated and it requires a lot of effort to make a breakthrough. Building a recognizable brand identity can be crucial for your progress and having a unique logo is the first step towards developing a successful brand. That’s why I decided to give you five logo design tips.
After reading these tips, you’ll know what’s important when choosing the perfect logo for your small business.

1. Be unique!
Make sure your logo stands out among the one of your competition. You can do this by creating a unique logo instead of copying other companies.
There are various websites which give you the opportunity to buy a logo. Let me tell you: you shouldn’t do this! Such a product is not suitable for your company. As this logo has been sold hundreds of times already, the chance of seeing it used by another company is a sure thing!

2. Select the right colors for your logo.
The right color choice is essential for your own unique logo. It’s important that you choose a color that sends the message of your brand to the people you want to reach.
If you’re going to use more than one color, choosing the right color combination is essential. My advice is to select a limited number (no more than three) of colors for your logo. Otherwise, it’ll look unprofessional and chaotic.
3. Does your logo showcase your brand?
The logo of a serious and formal law firm must be different than the logo of a less formal service agency. Consider the brand image you want for your company. Think about your target group and how you want to serve them.
For example, a B2B company would have a completely different audience and goals than a B2C company. Choosing the perfect logo includes taking these details into consideration.

4. Less is more!
This well-known saying also applies to logo design: less is more. A simple logo is:
- easy to design
- easy to recognize
At the same time, a complicated one may look good but is way harder for your customer to remember.
5. Is your logo timeless?
Will your logo be suitable for your business after five years? In most cases, it’s smart to go for a timeless design. As hypes come and go before you know, the right decision is to avoid choosing something temporary.
If you have to rebrand your business after a year or two, this will slow you down as it requires a large investment of time and money! The perfect logo lasts years and that’s why it’s among the most important elements of every brand.
